Advanced Systems Engineer for Space and Embedded Crypto

As an Advanced Systems Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems, you lead a cross-functional team responsible for systems engineering for the Secure Network Processing line of products. You'll drive the systems development life cycle from requirements definition through architecture and verification, working with hardware, software, firmware, and integration teams to deliver secure network solutions.

What you'll do

• Lead or participate in defining Technical Performance Measures and Key Performance Parameters according to customer needs
• Define and organize system requirements from customer specifications
• Define system and subsystem behaviors according to system requirements and customer needs
• Define system and subsystem architecture, both structural and functional, according to system behaviors
• Define system architecture for reliability, maintainability, availability, performance, RMF, and security according to requirements
• Document system architecture using Model-Based Systems Engineering methodology
• Collaborate with Engineering teams including SIT, software, firmware, hardware, and specialty engineering to confirm requirement verification and compliance
• Learn new technologies and methodologies quickly with minimal oversight, supporting systems engineers, software, firmware, hardware, and integration team members

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related science, engineering, or mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Proficiency with requirements management and system modeling tools
• Experience leading the systems development life cycle
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, MPLS, VPN, and ESP
• Familiarity with cross-domain solutions, security, RMF, and relay-based networking
• Experience with MBSE and MagicDraw
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire

Nice to have

• Experience with Xena traffic generation and test data generation
• Experience with GitLab and VSCode IDE for scripting and source control
• Background in network IP planning and implementation
• Understanding of network device routing and forwarding
• Experience getting a hardware payload through TRL7 space environmental testing
• Knowledge of software and firmware development processes and technologies
• Experience identifying opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation
