Applied Cryptographer

A fast-scaling semiconductor company is developing next-generation hardware and software products and seeks an experienced Applied Cryptographer to expand its engineering team. This role combines theoretical cryptography with practical implementation, giving you the opportunity to design and analyse security solutions that will be integrated into cutting-edge products.

What you'll do

• Design and analyse cryptographic algorithms, protocols and security architectures
• Identify vulnerabilities and develop robust solutions across both hardware and software environments
• Conduct formal verification, security proofs, code review and security analysis
• Work closely with hardware and software engineering teams to shape cryptographic designs from specification through implementation and integration
• Stay abreast of developments in cryptographic research, emerging attacks and post-quantum cryptography to identify opportunities and risks for future products
• Build products that meet demanding security assurance requirements

What you bring

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Cryptography or a related discipline
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of modern cryptography
• Knowledge of symmetric and asymmetric cryptographic algorithms and protocols
• Knowledge of post-quantum cryptography and emerging cryptographic standards
• Experience designing, implementing and maintaining cryptographic libraries
• Expertise in formal methods, formal verification and/or formal security proofs
• Strong mathematical foundations including number theory, probability, complexity theory and abstract algebra
• Experience with cryptographic security analysis and vulnerability assessment
• Experience in secure software development, code reviews and security audits
• Knowledge of hardware/software security integration within complex systems
• Experience with security assurance, certification or standards-driven development
• Ability to translate complex cryptographic concepts into practical engineering solutions
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills
