What engineering roles in crypto pay
334 salaries · our own dataMost engineering roles in crypto pay between $145k and $278k, with a median of $202k.
As a Blockchain Engineering Intern at Time Seventeen, you work on practical blockchain infrastructure and learn how on-chain systems connect to production trading and data products. You explore how on-chain systems can support transparent event-linked markets and risk-transfer workflows, investigating protocol behavior, building small integrations, and learning to distinguish a promising demonstration from a secure production capability. You work closely with colleagues across research, engineering, markets, and risk, clarifying assumptions early and making decisions that account for downstream users and systems.
What you'll do
- Develop and test integrations with blockchain nodes, indexers, smart contracts, and wallets.
- Help monitor on-chain data quality, transaction lifecycle, and system reliability.
- Research protocols and turn technical findings into working prototypes.
- Contribute code, tests, and documentation alongside experienced engineers.
- Evaluate DeFi integrations for oracle assumptions, collateral behavior, settlement rules, and transaction failure modes; document findings before proposing implementation.
- Document important decisions, assumptions, and limitations so that colleagues can review your work and extend it without relying on undocumented context.
What you bring
- Currently pursuing a technical degree or able to demonstrate equivalent software experience.
- Experience with TypeScript, Python, Rust, Solidity, or another relevant language.
- A basic understanding of blockchains, transactions, and smart contracts.
- A careful approach to security and enthusiasm for learning production systems.
- An ability to explain complex work clearly, distinguish evidence from assumptions, and update your view when new information warrants it.
- Interest in building infrastructure for geopolitical and catastrophe risk, with a willingness to learn the financial and technical context beyond your own specialty.
What we offer
- Based in Hong Kong
About Time Seventeen
Time Seventeen creates state prices for tail events and builds tradable synthetic indices and term structures for geopolitical and catastrophe risks. The company turns fragmented judgments about individual events into continuous risk prices and brings those prices into institutional valuation, trading, and risk-transfer workflows, using prediction markets, actuarial models, insurance structures, and blockchain-based DeFi.
