Blockchain Engineering Lead

As a Blockchain Engineering Lead at Scotiabank, you will lead the development of next-generation real-time, programmable payment rails. You join a team dedicated to delivering digital currency capabilities in alignment with enterprise governance and quality standards, working across business, technology, risk, and operations to unlock new capabilities for the bank while mentoring high-performing engineers.

What you'll do

• Ensure timely and successful delivery of project milestones while following the bank's software delivery standards
• Prepare roadmaps that align cross-team dependencies and stakeholders
• Identify risks and implement remediation activities to keep the team on track
• Lead technical discussions and influence design and strategy decisions
• Bring industry best practices to the team on emerging topics including cryptocurrency, blockchain, and distributed ledger technology
• Contribute to proof-of-concepts, pilots, and controlled production releases
• Coach and mentor team members to create a self-organizing, outcome-focused team
• Communicate with stakeholders across business lines and prepare executive communications and project updates
• Consider the bank's risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities and decisions

What you bring

• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Engineering Lead or similar role
• Hands-on experience delivering complex technology projects across design, build, test, and implementation phases
• Experience with API-driven, microservice architecture
• Experience managing vendor-supported technology solutions
• Ability to learn new and emerging technologies
• Experience coaching and mentoring high-performing teams
• Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders including technology, risk, compliance, and operations
• Experience operating within structured SDLC and change management frameworks in regulated environments

Nice to have

• Exposure to digital assets, blockchain technologies, smart contracts, and tokenized payment concepts
• Experience supporting initiatives subject to enhanced governance or regulatory oversight
