Blockchain Software Engineer

As a Blockchain Software Engineer at Versana, you'll contribute to the Application Development team's technical implementation of a real-time syndicated loan platform with blockchain and digital-asset infrastructure. You'll work closely with engineers, product managers, project managers, and UX designers to own and deliver features end to end, building performant, secure, and intuitive applications that integrate blockchain capabilities into enterprise systems.

What you'll do

• Own the technical delivery of features and projects from design through deployment, ensuring quality, performance, and scalability
• Implement blockchain integrations, including node connectivity, transaction submission, event monitoring, wallet and custody interactions, and signing and approval workflows, using enterprise-grade backend and Web3 libraries
• Write, test, and deploy smart contracts in Solidity or equivalent, handling the full transaction lifecycle including submission, confirmation, idempotency, and failure and reversal handling, with audit-friendly logging
• Build test automation across the full stack and follow engineering best practices
• Contribute to architectural discussions and code reviews
• Adhere to coding standards, architectural principles, and security best practices
• Collaborate with Product and UX teams to translate client needs into high-impact solutions
• Optimize application performance and reliability in a cloud environment
• Partner with Product Managers and Technical Project Managers to understand scope, timelines, and priorities
• Communicate project status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders clearly and proactively

What you bring

• 5+ years of backend software development experience, with expertise in one or more languages such as Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, Python, or Go
• Hands-on experience building on blockchain and DLT platforms such as Ethereum, Solana, Hyperledger Besu, or Canton/Daml, including understanding of transaction lifecycle (gas, nonce, confirmations, finality) and event processing
• Strong understanding of application architecture, design patterns, and performance optimization
• Proficiency with REST APIs and database technologies including SQL and NoSQL
• Hands-on experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Curiosity and willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment

Nice to have

• Experience with frontend frameworks such as React or Angular using TypeScript or JavaScript
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud computing platforms
• Understanding of wallet and custody infrastructure, key-management patterns, and building audit-friendly, idempotent transaction flows in regulated or security-sensitive environments
• Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cucumber
• Exposure to advanced UI frameworks, charting libraries, or design systems such as AG Grid or D3
• Familiarity with accessibility and responsive design principles
• Experience in financial services, particularly syndicated loans or leveraged finance
• Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks such as SOC2, NIST, or ISO 27001, or experience coordinating third-party security audits and custody-provider integrations such as Fireblocks or Turnkey
• Experience with event-streaming platforms such as Kafka for transaction and ledger event publishing
