Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, you lead operations across two regulated financial market infrastructure entities: ICE Clear U.S. (ICUS), a CFTC-registered Derivatives Clearing Organization providing clearing services for futures and options on agricultural, equity and digital asset products, and ICE Digital Trust (IDTC), a New York State chartered limited purpose trust company providing institutional grade custody services for digital assets. You ensure both entities operate safely and soundly in compliance with their respective regulatory frameworks while maintaining operational resilience and governance standards. This role sits at the intersection of traditional clearing and blockchain technology, positioning you to shape how the industry evolves toward 24/7 crypto clearing and digital collateral management.

What you'll do

• Manage day-to-day operational issues at ICE Clear U.S., serving as an escalation point for clearing members on operational matters
• Liaise across Operations, Risk, Treasury and System Operations teams on ICUS clearing operations
• Collaborate with ICE exchanges on new product launches
• Prioritize and oversee development items for ICUS, working across development, quality assurance and project management teams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery
• Lead the ICUS clearing analyst team and define requirements for new features
• Ensure ICUS maintains and develops high levels of operational resilience
• Manage internal audit follow-up and business continuity planning for clearing operations
• Represent ICUS on relevant ICE boards and internal and external committees as required
• Support development and execution of ICUS corporate strategy
• Engage externally with ICE Digital Trust's customer base and target customers to build and maintain strong institutional relationships
• Work closely with Business Development on onboarding new customers and expanding custodian services at IDTC
• Own day-to-day operational aspects of IDTC's digital asset custody business, including custody operations, transaction review and key management processes
• Maintain and continuously improve IDTC's operational procedures
• Liaise with the NYDFS on IDTC custody operations matters
• Identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency and reduce operational risk across custody operations
• Support development and execution of IDTC corporate strategy

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree
• 15+ years of experience in financial market infrastructure operations, with significant time in clearing, exchange, custody, banking or a related regulatory environment
• Experience overseeing operations in a regulated clearing house or qualified custodian
• Working knowledge of CFTC clearing house regulations and/or NYDFS trust company and virtual currency business requirements
• Strong track record in operational resilience and business continuity planning
• Excellent leadership, project management and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice to have

• Familiarity with digital asset custody, private key management and blockchain infrastructure

What we offer

• Base salary range of $230,000-$330,000 USD if located in New York, or $230,000-$300,000 USD if located in Illinois, based on skillset and experience (does not include Intercontinental Exchange's incentive compensation)
