CommunityMidRemote
🌍 Fully remote
Walrus is building a Verifiable Data Platform for AI Builders. We're seeking a Community Growth Coordinator to build Walrus's presence in AI and non-web3 communities, and to support the execution of community programs and events. This role is defined first by your ability to build real presence in communities Walrus doesn't yet have-every other responsibility supports that goal. This is a 6-month contract position.
What you'll do
- Scout new communities and opportunities, with a focus on AI-native and non-web3 spaces, identifying fit and prioritizing where to invest time.
- Build and maintain genuine relationships with those communities beyond initial contact.
- Drive engagement and support activation once a relationship is established.
- Engage directly in community discussions across target communities; track recurring themes, questions, and pain points, and surface emerging insights as input for future community programs.
- Bring community observations into regular syncs so they inform ongoing planning.
- Contribute to Reddit strategy, moderation, and content sourcing, working alongside the moderator team.
- Conduct first-pass review of applications for community programs.
- Judge and evaluate program participants and winners, alongside the program lead.
- Support the setup of new programs, including website, documentation, and logistics.
- Coordinate and manage moderators day-to-day, in partnership with the Discord lead moderator.
- Maintain visibility across all events, tracking status and next steps.
- Support logistics for in-person events.
- Support preparation of X Spaces and AMAs.
- Build and maintain a simple system for tracking event status and feedback, ensuring outcomes are captured consistently.
What you bring
- Demonstrated, active presence within AI-focused, builder, or other non-web3 online communities-real standing, relationships, or a track record of participation and reputation within them, not just familiarity.
- Experience initiating and growing relationships with new communities, not just managing existing ones.
Nice to have
- Comfort adapting and localizing existing programs for new audiences, working closely with program leads on execution.
- Strong organizational skills and process discipline-able to independently manage applications, evaluations, and payment workflows.
- Experience coordinating or supporting events.
- Familiarity with Discord, Reddit, X, and/or other channels as community and engagement platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical or product concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, often unscripted environment.
