Crypto Research Associate, Finance

As a Crypto Research Associate in Fidelity's Digital Asset Management business, you report to the Head of Investments and join a multi-disciplinary research team focused on developing frameworks to evaluate tokens, blockchains, and protocols shaping the blockchain economy. You manage DeFi sector coverage, own asset selection performance within investment strategies, and serve as the subject-matter expert partnering with Product, Strategists, and Risk on new on-chain investment products. Your work brings the rigor and discipline of traditional asset management research to digital assets.

What you'll do

• Conduct fundamental analysis and create investment memos covering protocol economics, governance, risk dependencies, and incentives for Finance protocols
• Monitor previous reviews, build models to assess utility and risk, and structure analytics from APIs and data sources
• Participate actively in investment forums to discuss and debate asset selection views and organize materials for product development insights
• Engage with Strategists on framing and content for thought leadership, education, and pitchbooks

What you bring

• 2+ years of investment research experience with a portion focused on decentralized finance (DeFi)
• Demonstrated experience writing professional research reports on DeFi, highlighting trade-offs of various Finance protocols or subsectors such as DEX, Lending, or Options
• Deep understanding of the current state of various DeFi projects and new projects or integrations
• Familiarity with asset valuation and smart contracts, including trading on-chain
• Strong hands-on research capabilities and ability to communicate research to a broad audience
• Collaborative, creative, and team-oriented approach to research, investing, and technology
• Familiarity with modern technology and programming platforms such as Python, SQL, Solidity, and cloud-oriented data technology like AWS, Azure, S3, and Snowflake

Nice to have

• An advanced degree in Finance, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field
• Experience with portfolio construction and managing against a risk budget
