Cryptographer

As a Cryptographer at Arqit, you work closely with engineering, product, and commercial teams to provide technical guidance on post-quantum cryptography solutions. You engage with customers and speak at events, using both your technical expertise and interpersonal skills to help prospective clients understand how Arqit's offerings meet their security needs. You will work on a hybrid basis from Arqit's offices in Belfast city centre.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with sales teams during pre-sales engagements to explain cryptographic concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders
• Assist in preparing technical presentations, demos, and proof-of-concept activities
• Translate customer requirements into secure solution designs aligned with industry standards
• Support responses to RFPs and technical questionnaires related to encryption and security
• Contribute to risk assessment documents, providing advice on risk mitigation and compliance based on customer encryption inventory reports
• Liaise with the academic cryptography and cyber security community
• Maintain leading-edge knowledge of cryptographic protocols, algorithms, and compliance frameworks

What you bring

• A Bachelor's degree, MSc, or PhD in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
• A foundational understanding of cryptographic principles including symmetric and asymmetric encryption, hashing, and key management
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences
• The ability to work collaboratively with sales and technical teams
• Familiarity with compliance standards such as ISO 27001 and NIST
• Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to learn
• The ability to work full-time without visa restrictions
