As a Data Analyst, Stewardship at DRW, you will play an integral role in all operational aspects of onboarding, managing and maintaining various datasets used by traders and quantitative researchers. You will work closely with technology, front office, operations, research, and risk management teams. This role is built around production support: keeping EOD valuation data and reference data used for PnL production running correctly, and being the person who catches, diagnoses, and fixes data problems before they flow to downstream applications.
What you'll do
- Monitor and support the production of EOD valuation data and reference data used for PnL, including coverage during evening hours to bridge global support windows.
- Respond to global requests via Slack and email to create, update, and troubleshoot financial instrument reference data.
- Investigate and explain why and how data appears the way it does by tracing issues back through source systems, feeds, and business logic.
- Diagnose data problems quickly under pressure and build ad-hoc scripts or tooling to resolve them.
- Work across reference data and valuation data stores and related reference data tooling.
- Escalate and collaborate with engineering and other Data Management teams on systemic issues.
What you bring
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience troubleshooting data issues or writing ad-hoc scripts to fix problems quickly.
- Experience standing up tactical fixes in a scheduling environment and building data quality metric reports.
- Comfort accessing different types of data storage and file formats.
- Knowledge of financial instruments and markets well enough to understand what the data represents, particularly for futures, options, and crypto on all asset classes across global exchanges.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure with strong critical thinking, assessing the real impact of a request or problem and responding with appropriate urgency.
- Comfortable fielding requests from a global, technical user base across Slack and email, and explaining data behavior clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience building data governance rules and controls, and writing runbook procedures for resolving support issues.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Oracle SQL, Bloomberg back-office files, S3/Athena, Bloomberg Terminal, and Bloomberg's Excel API plug-in.
- Experience with Python libraries such as requests, pandas, numpy, pyplot, and spark.
- Exposure to solving problems and workflows using AI CLI and Airflow scheduling.
What we offer
- Annual base salary of $100,000 to $120,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant skill set.
- Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
- Comprehensive employee benefits including group medical, pharmacy, dental and vision insurance, 401k with discretionary employer match, short and long-term disability, life and AD&D insurance, health savings accounts, and flexible spending accounts.
- Hybrid schedule with the option to work in our Chicago or Houston office; remote may be possible for the right candidate.
- Non-traditional hours: 10:30am-7:30pm Central time.
