Data Center Technician

As a Data Center Technician at Jump Trading, you manage the datacenters, networks, and supporting systems that power Jump's global low-latency environment and high-performance computing clusters. You work with the latest server, network, and storage technology, including high-density cabinets and liquid cooling, with ownership of projects from start to finish.

What you'll do

• Remotely manage data center infrastructure including power, cooling, hardware, cabling, tools, and supplies to ensure maximum service availability
• Perform requirements gathering and planning for new hardware installations, including physical location, power and cooling requirements, and cabling
• Oversee Datacenter Managed Services providers and manage onsite technicians
• Develop and maintain data center standards and documentation
• Interface directly with colocation providers and hardware vendors on questions, issues, and new requests
• Coordinate with other teams on data center work such as equipment installation, cable patching, and auditing
• Perform capacity planning activities for space, cooling, power, and cabling infrastructure
• Evaluate industry trends and recommend improvements within the data center and hardware space
• Troubleshoot and resolve data center and hardware issues
• Assist with shipping and receiving of equipment
• Maintain inventory of serialized assets and consumables
• Travel occasionally to data centers and Jump offices

What you bring

• At least two years of onsite data center experience
• Understanding of data center infrastructure including electrical systems, power, cooling, mechanicals, and safety
• Knowledge of cabling standards, media types, and installation best practices
• Hardware repair experience with data center infrastructure, servers, network devices, and storage devices
• Ability to understand basic network designs and topologies
• Experience working at the command line of Linux systems, performing basic system troubleshooting, and running scripts
• Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a global team
• Extremely high personal standards for work quality
• Reliable and predictable availability
