Deputy General Counsel, Head of Americas Legal

As Deputy General Counsel and Head of Americas Legal at OKX, you shape the company's regulatory and legal strategy in the US and across the Americas at a leading global cryptocurrency exchange. You serve as the primary legal partner to OKX's regulated businesses across the region, advising on regulatory strategy, licensing, product launches, strategic partnerships, and corporate matters. You act as a key counsel to senior business leadership, coordinate cross-functional efforts with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Finance, and report to OKX's VP, Legal.

What you'll do

• Develop and advance a best-in-class regulatory strategy in the US and across the Americas, including developing and maintaining strong relationships with regulators
• Engage directly with regulators and business counterparties as a key point of contact for OKX, and interact daily with senior executives
• Identify growth opportunities and strategic initiatives based on proactive, timely, actionable analysis of US regulatory developments
• Lead and manage attorneys covering various Americas regions to ensure legal efforts are coordinated and achieve successful outcomes
• Manage a wide range of legal requests and advise on legal risk with an eye toward achieving the strategic goals of the company's regional business leaders

What you bring

• Strong communication and leadership skills, and excellent judgment
• A self-starter who contributes as both an individual and a team member, with limited reliance on external counsel
• Membership with a US state bar or equivalent
• 12+ years of regulatory experience dealing with financial services laws and regulations in a highly-regulated environment
• Prior experience in-house at a regulated financial firm or in the crypto industry (preferred), at a top-tier law firm, and/or at a regulator
• Experience driving projects to completion on expedited timelines
• A highly-driven, proactive, responsive, and precise approach to work
• Experience making strategic recommendations to senior management and senior legal team members
• Comfort navigating legal ambiguity
• Experience advising on cross-jurisdictional legal and regulatory matters
• Supervisory experience, particularly managing other attorneys
• Enthusiasm about blockchain technology with experience advising on laws and regulations applicable in the crypto context
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage, and multi-cultural environment and across global time zones
• Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams
• Superior organizational skills

• Expertise in US securities laws and regulations
• Prior in-house experience in a financial services or crypto firm
