Development Manager - DLT

As a Development Manager for Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) at Standard Chartered Bank, you will lead end-to-end development of innovative, high-impact projects involving blockchain infrastructure, digital assets, and enterprise-grade integrations. You'll join the DLT Centre of Excellence and balance deep technical expertise with product delivery across emerging technologies in regulated environments.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain blockchain protocols, smart contracts, tokenization modules, and consensus algorithms
• Ensure security, integrity, and scalability of blockchain solutions
• Design and implement systems compliant with internal controls, frameworks, and best practices in collaboration with solution architects and security domain experts
• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, security, scalability, and adherence to coding standards
• Research, trial, and recommend new technologies of interest to the group
• Take code through testing, deployment, and production environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in blockchain applications and systems
• Work with cross-functional teams (Dev, DevOps, QA) through the full delivery lifecycle from ideation to implementation
• Interact with business users, compliance, security, and external partners to align technical goals with business outcomes
• Coach and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
• Identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk and compliance matters while promoting a culture of openness, trust, and risk awareness
• Ensure application design considerations align with regulatory frameworks around infrastructure hosting and data management for client-facing applications

What you bring

• 8+ years of experience in Core Java, Spring, Spring Boot Microservices, and REST API development
• Strong proficiency in backend development using Python or Golang and Solidity
• Hands-on experience with permissioned blockchain frameworks such as Quorum, Hyperledger Besu, Hyperledger Fabric, and Corda, including provisioning, configuration, and orchestration
• Demonstrated understanding of DLT applications such as Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization, Cross-Border Payments, Decentralized Identity (DID), and smart contract-based financial products
• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
• Proven track record deploying systems on AWS EKS or Azure AKS using CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of cryptographic primitives including public/private key infrastructure, symmetric/asymmetric encryption, digital signatures, and secure key management
• Experience with event streaming and messaging (Kafka, Solace)
• Proficiency in SDLC practices, Agile delivery, Git-based version control, and issue tracking systems
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver robust solutions under tight deadlines and evolving requirements
• Clear communication skills to translate complex technical ideas into actionable insights for diverse audiences
• Strong track record of meeting delivery milestones while upholding code quality and security standards

Nice to have

• Strong proficiency with JavaScript frameworks, particularly React
• Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure networking, access controls, high-availability setups, and infrastructure automation
