Digital Modem Engineer

As a Digital Modem Engineer at Jump Trading, you will lead the design and development of custom, low-latency modem architectures for point-to-point wireless networks around the globe. You join the Trading Infrastructure organization, which architects, builds, and maintains world-class infrastructure leveraging research and automation to scale Jump's trading operations.

What you'll do

• Design, simulate, and realize innovative physical layer wireless communication algorithms for low latency applications
• Implement modem and system models and perform detailed performance investigations to enable RTL development and performance sign-off
• Collaborate with digital designers and firmware developers to realize algorithms with power and area efficient implementation

What you bring

• At least 5+ years of experience in the design, build, and deployment of digital modem systems
• Deep knowledge and demonstrated experience in digital modem design, including transmit and receive pulse shaping digital filter design
• Symbol rate throughput, latency, and spectral occupancy analysis and optimization
• Carrier and symbol clock offset tracking and recovery
• Adaptive equalization using blind, training-based, and decision-directed algorithms
• Channel modeling and simulation
• Fixed point design, simulation and analysis
• Experience with Python, C/C++, and/or Matlab for algorithm development, modeling (floating-point and fixed-point), and link-level simulation
• An MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Reliable and predictable availability

Nice to have

• Experience in logic design for wireless modem FPGAs, ASICs, or custom data-path components for DSP applications (sequential and arithmetic components)
• Familiarity with Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave components: oscillators, mixers, attenuators, amplifiers, couplers, isolators, and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout
