
As a Digital Modem Engineer at Jump Trading, you will lead the design and development of custom, low-latency modem architectures for point-to-point wireless networks around the globe. You join the Trading Infrastructure organization, which architects, builds, and maintains world-class infrastructure leveraging research and automation to scale Jump's trading operations.
What you'll do
- Design, simulate, and realize innovative physical layer wireless communication algorithms for low latency applications
- Implement modem and system models and perform detailed performance investigations to enable RTL development and performance sign-off
- Collaborate with digital designers and firmware developers to realize algorithms with power and area efficient implementation
What you bring
- At least 5+ years of experience in the design, build, and deployment of digital modem systems
- Deep knowledge and demonstrated experience in digital modem design, including transmit and receive pulse shaping digital filter design
- Symbol rate throughput, latency, and spectral occupancy analysis and optimization
- Carrier and symbol clock offset tracking and recovery
- Adaptive equalization using blind, training-based, and decision-directed algorithms
- Channel modeling and simulation
- Fixed point design, simulation and analysis
- Experience with Python, C/C++, and/or Matlab for algorithm development, modeling (floating-point and fixed-point), and link-level simulation
- An MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Reliable and predictable availability
Nice to have
- Experience in logic design for wireless modem FPGAs, ASICs, or custom data-path components for DSP applications (sequential and arithmetic components)
- Familiarity with Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave components: oscillators, mixers, attenuators, amplifiers, couplers, isolators, and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout
