Engineering Manager, Credit Cards & Banking

As an Engineering Manager for Credit Cards & Banking at Robinhood, you'll lead a team building category-defining credit card and banking experiences that reach millions of customers. You'll own the full customer experience end to end, from mobile and frontend surfaces to backend systems and infrastructure. You'll partner closely with product, design, data, compliance, operations, and peer engineering teams to define roadmaps, make technical decisions, and deliver exceptional products at scale while hiring, coaching, and developing a high-performing team.

What you'll do

• Lead, grow, and support a team of software engineers working on Robinhood's Credit Cards & Banking product area
• Set clear direction for the team across execution, technical design, and people development
• Partner with product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to define roadmaps and deliver high-impact customer experiences
• Drive the architecture, execution, and operational excellence needed to build reliable, scalable card and banking systems
• Guide engineering decisions across product surfaces, backend services, and platform dependencies
• Improve team health and effectiveness through strong planning, prioritization, feedback, and career development
• Hire exceptional engineers and raise the bar on talent, performance, and engineering craftsmanship
• Help the team move quickly while maintaining high standards for quality, reliability, and customer trust

What you bring

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams
• Experience leading teams that build and ship customer-facing products at scale
• Strong technical judgment and the ability to partner closely on architecture, tradeoffs, and execution
• Experience working on complex distributed systems, backend services, or full-stack consumer products
• A track record of driving cross-functional initiatives from concept through launch
• Experience coaching and developing engineers through regular feedback, performance management, and career growth
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical partners
• A high bar for execution, product quality, and building strong teams

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, banking, credit cards, payments, lending, or other highly regulated domains
• Experience leading teams through periods of rapid growth, product expansion, or platform scaling
• Experience building mobile-first or consumer app experiences
• Familiarity with modern backend and data systems in high-availability environments

What we offer

• Base pay range: $230,000-$270,000 USD (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC), $203,000-$238,000 USD (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL), or $180,000-$211,000 USD (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL), depending on location

This role is based in Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY, with in-person attendance expected 5 days per week.
