ERSOU - ROCU - Police Staff PO1/2 - Blockchain & digital Assets Investigator - CART

As a Blockchain and Digital Assets Investigator with the Crypto Asset Recovery Team (CART) at Bedfordshire Police's ERSOU, you will identify and follow crypto asset trails to map organised crime group finances and assist in their seizure. You join a newly established team funded by the Home Office until April 2027, working to target, tackle and disrupt crypto-related proceeds of crime through a blend of innovative thinking, attention to detail, and proven understanding of cryptocurrency.

What you'll do

• Identify and follow crypto asset trails to map organised crime group finances
• Assist in the seizure of crypto assets, either physically at scenes and warrants or remotely via applications for data and production orders
• Utilise Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) relationships to support investigations
• Collaborate closely with team members to deliver this new capability
• Work across the Eastern Region footprint with flexibility for agile working arrangements

What you bring

• Proven understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology
• Ability to handle complexity, particularly when dealing with large data sets
• Disciplined approach to leading others in pursuit of criminals and proceeds of crime
• Nationality and residency requirements to permit National Security Vetting checks
• Continuous UK residency for at least 3 of the last 5 years, 2 of which must be the immediately preceding years from the point of application
• Willingness to undergo Management Vetting, Security Clearance or Development Vetting as applicable
• For internal applicants: successful completion of probationary period

About Bedfordshire Police and ERSOU

ERSOU, the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit, was created in 2010 and is funded by seven police forces across the eastern region, with Bedfordshire Police as the lead force. ERSOU delivers a regional response to serious and organised crime and counter terrorism policing. The department is staffed by officers and police staff from across the entire region and works closely with national partners. This position is a secondment to CART, a newly established team within the Economic Crime Command, with Home Office funding until April 2027.
