Head Of Infrastructure

As Head of Infrastructure at Scalable Solutions, you lead a department of approximately 40 engineers across 5-7 teams. You own infrastructure strategy, platform reliability, and people development across a complex multi-environment setup: legacy bare-metal SaaS, AWS-based Kubernetes infrastructure, client on-prem deployments, and blockchain node operations. All systems must maintain 99.9%+ SLA while meeting ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and MiCA compliance requirements. You report to the CTO and are the technical authority infrastructure teams follow.

What you'll do

• Set infrastructure strategy for 1-3 years, establish quarterly goals and roadmap
• Build and develop the team: structure, hiring, and growth of team leads
• Restructure the infrastructure organization into a layered model: infrastructure as a service, platform/services, SRE, blockchain operations, and internal IT
• Build a unified platform to manage many environments with one source of truth for versioning, environment-specific release policies (on-demand for SaaS, strict control for bank on-prem), and self-service capabilities for developers
• Complete the migration from legacy bare-metal SaaS to AWS and decommission legacy systems
• Establish SRE/L3 ownership of observability and incident management across all productions
• Own change management, incident management, and release processes across all environments
• Approve target SLA/SLO, lead investigation of major incidents, and raise the engineering and hiring bar in the department
• Align infrastructure with Security, compliance, product teams, and clients
• Own infrastructure budget and vendor relationships
• Report status and risks to the CTO and top management

What you bring

• 7+ years in infrastructure, platform, SRE, or DevOps
• 2+ years leading an infrastructure organization through team leads, managing 3+ teams and 10+ engineers
• Strong technical background capable of reviewing architecture, identifying weak points, and explaining to senior engineers why a solution will not work at scale
• Experience running many environments or installations: versioning, rollout strategy, isolation, and configuration drift management
• Experience with both bare-metal and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and networking
• Ownership mindset for reliability: SLA/SLO definition, incident management, post-mortems, and change discipline
• Clear communication with CTO-level stakeholders on priorities, trade-offs, and risks
• High hiring bar: you recruit people stronger than yourself

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated environments (fintech, banking, payments) with ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOC 2, or similar certifications
• Experience with client on-prem deployments, including environments with limited or no direct access
• Track record of measurable results: MTTR, uptime, cost reduction, and deployment speed improvements
• Built an organization with clear roles: team leads, tech leads, principal engineers, and service ownership models
• FinOps expertise: cost attribution and optimization with real numbers
• Blockchain node infrastructure experience (RPC nodes, validators)
• Disaster recovery and business continuity planning at department level (RTO/RPO)
• Internal developer platform experience (Backstage or similar)
