Head of Platform - Arkiv
What security roles in crypto pay
50 salaries · our own dataMost security roles in crypto pay between $141k and $273k, with a median of $208k.
As Head of Platform at Arkiv (part of Golem Network), you own everything that runs Arkiv in production and everything users interact with. You are responsible for L3 infrastructure, monitoring, the website, dashboards, Bridge UI, explorer, and developer onboarding. This is a hands-on leadership role where you debug production issues, design monitoring systems, mentor engineers, and shape how the platform team operates as you grow it.
What you'll do
- Own and operate L3 infrastructure including Kubernetes clusters, deployments, networking, and secrets management
- Design and maintain monitoring and reliability systems using Prometheus, Grafana, alerting, and incident response procedures; establish and own SLOs
- Manage the public website, token bridge application, Blockscout explorer deployment, internal ops dashboards, and network statistics
- Lead developer onboarding including docs website, getting started guides, and the faucet
- Manage the external L2 ops provider relationship, SLAs, and escalations
- Support partner pilots with demo environments, pre-sales technical assistance, and integration help for prospective partners
- Hire, mentor, and grow engineers to senior level; define team roles and structure as you scale
- Collaborate closely with the CTO on reliability and infrastructure strategy, and with the Protocol team on shared ownership of what you operate
- Be the technical face of Arkiv for prospective partners, answering integration questions and ensuring their first experience is excellent
- Debug production issues, be on-call, and set the tone for clear thinking and blameless postmortems during incidents
What you bring
- 5+ years of significant hands-on experience running production systems at scale
- Deep experience with Kubernetes across different environments including cloud providers and bare metal
- Strong background with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Prior blockchain or node experience as a prerequisite
- Real-world experience building and operating CI/CD deployment pipelines; familiarity with GitOps tools like ArgoCD or Flux
- Proficiency in at least one of Go, Python, or TypeScript; you can write tools, not just configure them
- Deep experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident response; you design systems that tell you when something is wrong before users notice
- An SRE mindset where you think in SLOs, measure MTTR, and treat reliability as a craft
- Solid software engineering background; you can review code and guide technical decisions
- Track record leading and growing a team of 3+ engineers; you have been responsible for both systems and people
- Hands-on approach: you stay close to production, debug when others sleep, and believe infrastructure leaders must do the work alongside their teams
- You are genuinely curious about how systems fail, not just how they deploy
- Data-driven mindset; you measure what matters and use data to prioritize rather than relying on intuition
- Strong collaboration skills; you set high standards while remaining approachable and making your team better by being in it
- You see beyond your lane and notice what is broken or could be better even outside your direct responsibility
- You stay calm under pressure and set a tone of clear thinking and structured response during incidents
Nice to have
- Track record in open source projects or significant internal platform and tooling work
- Incident commander experience
- Vendor and SLA management experience
- Experience with bare metal Kubernetes deployments or cost-optimized infrastructure setups
What we offer
- Remote first, based within CET +/- 3 timezones
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
