[Intern] Big Data Development Engineer Intern

As a Big Data Development Engineer Intern at Bybit, you will design and build an end-to-end AI-driven system to automate campaign decision-making for one of the world's leading cryptocurrency exchanges. You'll work at the intersection of data science, machine learning, and growth marketing, translating business questions into data problems and building production pipelines that recommend smarter campaigns, target audiences, and budget allocations.

What you'll do

• Assess the current campaign lifecycle and data assets, identifying all decision points reliant on manual judgment and determining where intelligent automation creates the most value.
• Mine campaign opportunities from user behavior, product and market signals, and historical performance; build an AI Agent that outputs candidate campaign themes with supporting evidence.
• Build or reuse user segmentation and propensity models; apply uplift modeling to direct budget toward truly incremental audiences who would be influenced by incentives.
• Develop a cost-benefit model that projects participation, incremental trading volume and revenue, simulates ROI, recommends budget allocation, and analyzes sensitivity and risks such as abuse and reward-farming.
• Translate model outputs into a reviewable proposal covering objectives, mechanics, target audience, budget, expected KPIs, and risk boundaries; align with PM, Growth, and business stakeholders.
• Implement the end-to-end pipeline from data ingestion through model inference, recommendation, campaign configuration, and A/B or holdout evaluation on at least one real campaign or rigorous backtest; quantify improvement versus the baseline manual process.

What you bring

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
• Solid proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Data science foundations: A/B experiment design, causal inference and uplift modeling, propensity and response models, and basic predictive modeling; ability to distinguish correlation from incremental effect.
• Hands-on experience with LLM application development including prompt engineering, RAG, and Agent / tool-calling frameworks; ability to use LLMs for reasoning and orchestration on top of quantitative models.
• Business acumen and genuine interest in fintech and crypto; ability to translate business questions into data problems and conclusions into actionable decisions for stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills, as this role bridges data, product, and growth/marketing teams.
• Fluent in Mandarin.
• Minimum 3-month internship commitment, 5 days per week on-site.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time or streaming technology stacks such as Flink or Kafka.
• Background in growth, CRM, campaign analytics, recommendation systems, or marketing mix modeling.
