Lead Engineer

As Lead Engineer at TEESTA, you design, build, and continuously evolve the technology that powers a high-frequency trading and market-making firm. You join a small, intentionally technical team working directly with the founder, traders, and quantitative researchers. Unlike conventional software, trading infrastructure operates under extreme constraints: market data arrives continuously, execution windows are measured in microseconds, and every layer of the technology stack influences performance. You shape our architecture, engineering culture, and technical direction from the earliest stages.

What you'll do

• Design and evolve the architecture of a low-latency trading platform end to end.
• Build high-performance execution systems capable of processing market data and placing orders with minimal latency.
• Develop scalable infrastructure for market data ingestion, storage, simulation, and backtesting.
• Optimise Linux systems, networking, and infrastructure for predictable low-latency performance.
• Design deployment, observability, monitoring, and operational tooling for production trading systems.
• Build secure infrastructure and implement best practices across systems, cloud environments, and engineering workflows.
• Work closely with traders and quantitative researchers to translate research into robust production systems.
• Lead complex engineering projects from design through production deployment while maintaining high standards for reliability, performance, and code quality.
• Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate and adopt technologies that improve engineering productivity, operational efficiency, and platform reliability.

What you bring

• 6+ years of experience building high-performance software, preferably within high-frequency trading or another latency-sensitive environment.
• Demonstrated experience building trading infrastructure from first principles with end-to-end ownership across the technology stack.
• Hands-on experience across architecture, networking, market data systems, execution platforms, production infrastructure, deployment, observability, and security, not just one specialised area.
• Exceptional programming skills in C++ and/or Rust.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, Linux internals, operating systems, networking, and systems architecture.
• A track record of designing reliable, scalable, and maintainable production systems.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound architectural decisions under evolving requirements.
• A bias for ownership, simplicity, and engineering excellence.

• High-frequency trading or electronic market-making systems experience.
• Experience with cryptocurrency exchanges and digital asset markets.
• Kernel bypass technologies such as DPDK.
• Network optimisation and low-level systems programming.
• Performance tuning and latency optimisation expertise.
