Lead Software Engineer - Java, Blockchain

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Global Technology team, you design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You serve as a member of an agile team developing solutions across mobile banking, trading systems, payment platforms, cloud integration, and blockchain. You may be involved in developing and integrating blockchain solutions on public chains such as Ethereum, while leveraging AWS cloud services to build scalable, secure applications.

What you'll do

• Participate in design and develop scalable and resilient systems using Java or Python to contribute to continual, iterative improvements for product teams
• Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
• Create secure and high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Produce or contribute to architecture and design artifacts for applications while ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
• Design and implement blockchain-based solutions, including smart contracts and decentralized applications on public chains such as Ethereum
• Utilize AWS cloud services to architect, deploy, and manage scalable applications
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing consistent validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team
• Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation

What you bring

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience coding in Java or Python
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing and operational stability
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile
• Experience with blockchain technologies, including public chains such as Ethereum
• Experience with AWS cloud services
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations, with experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
