Partner 20, Social Media Lead, Crypto

As the Social Media Lead for a16z crypto, you grow the firm's social channels and engage key communities across the crypto industry. You work closely with the crypto marketing team to adapt and distribute content into social media posts, create native social content like clips and campaigns, and advise the broader a16z crypto team and portfolio companies on social media strategy and profile building. You cover everything from social media for external podcast appearances and investment announcements to events, editorial content, and special projects.

What you'll do

• Build and execute social media strategy, operationalizing ideas into processes, pipelines, and content calendars while proposing fresh creative formats and staying on top of the latest social media trends
• Adapt and distribute existing content pieces into social media posts across platforms
• Create content native to social media, including clips, content campaigns, and special projects
• Identify, adapt, edit, and time compelling clips from podcasts, interviews, and other sources, working with technical A/V editors and internal production staff
• Analyze performance data, test hypotheses around content packages with the audience development lead, and optimize based on what's working
• Monitor internet culture, sentiment, industry trends, and shifts to craft compelling and timely social content
• Regularly engage with relevant social media communities, identify and engage key influencers across crypto verticals, and serve as the online brand voice for a16z crypto
• Advise the broader a16z crypto team, from investing to operations, as well as portfolio companies on social media strategy and profile building

What you bring

• Hands-on experience owning or driving social media for a high-visibility or high-growth brand, with embedded experience in a content operation especially welcome
• Proven ability to adapt style and voice across different formats, platforms, and audiences, striking the right tone whether playful, thoughtful, smart, accessible, or direct
• Experience with X, LinkedIn, and Instagram required, optionally with crypto-native or alt social media tools and video platforms like YouTube or TikTok
• Strong command of analytics tools and the ability to interpret and report insights regularly
• Excellent communication skills through text, multimedia, design, or memes
• Ability to meet multi-threaded, cross-functional deadlines
• Passion for technology, the internet, open source, and/or crypto with intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning
• Low ego, high empathy, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams

What we offer

• Salary range of $199,000 to $232,000, with actual starting pay varying based on experience, skills, and scope
