Partner 20, Social Media Lead, Crypto

As the Social Media Lead for a16z crypto at Andreessen Horowitz, you will grow the firm's social channels and engage key communities across the crypto ecosystem. You'll work closely with the marketing and editorial teams to adapt existing content into social posts, create native social content such as clips and campaigns, and advise the broader a16z crypto team and portfolio companies on social media strategy and profile building. This is a remote role with occasional in-office presence required for team offsites, conferences, and events.

What you'll do

• Build and operationalize social media strategy into processes, pipelines, and content calendars while generating fresh creative ideas and staying on top of the latest social media trends
• Adapt and distribute existing content pieces into social media posts across all marketing functions, from podcast appearances and investment announcements to editorial content and special campaigns
• Analyze performance data and optimize content by testing hypotheses around content packages, evaluating what works, and reporting insights back to the team
• Create and produce social content directly when needed, help produce it with others, and oversee the short-form clips operation by identifying, adapting, editing, and timing compelling clips
• Stay plugged into internet culture, online conversations, sentiment, and industry trends to craft compelling, informative, and entertaining social media content
• Engage regularly with relevant social media communities and different audiences, identify and engage key influencers across crypto verticals, and serve as the online brand voice for a16z crypto

What you bring

• Excellent communicator across text, multimedia, design, and memes
• Hands-on experience owning or driving social media for a high-visibility or high-growth brand, with experience embedded in a content operation especially welcome
• Proven ability to adapt style and voice across different formats, platforms, and audiences while striking the right tone (not corporate, not cringe)
• Experience with X, LinkedIn, and Instagram required, optionally with crypto-native or alt social media tools and video platforms like YouTube or TikTok
• Strong command of data, including implementing and using analytics tools and regularly interpreting and reporting insights
• Ability to meet multi-threaded, cross-functional deadlines
• Passion for technology, the internet, open source, and/or crypto with intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning
• Low ego, high empathy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams

What we offer

• Salary range of $199,000 to $232,000, with actual pay varying based on experience, skills, and scope
