Platform Accounting Analyst - US

As a Platform Accounting Analyst at Kraken, you play a crucial part in month-end close and reporting by supporting business processes and products from an accounting and reconciliation perspective. You work with the Platform Accounting team, which oversees financial accounting for trading products including fiat, digital assets, futures, margin, options, and OTC operations. This is a remote role requiring you to live and work within US timezones (Pacific to Eastern).

What you'll do

• Interface daily with internal systems and the proprietary exchange platform to assist with fiat and digital asset position reconciliations across banks and crypto wallets
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Research and correct discrepancies promptly while communicating findings and actions to appropriate cross-functional stakeholders
• Support financial reporting and regulatory requests by providing complete, accurate and timely documentation for areas you are responsible for
• Ensure accounting on both consolidated and standalone financials complies with various regulatory environments and entities across the globe
• Independently manage and develop current reconciliation processes for greater efficiency and transparency, while analyzing data against business drivers to identify issues and trends
• Maintain and review daily, monthly and yearly reconciliations for financial accounting issues and reporting
• Provide support for internal and external audits
• Document processes and procedures to ensure proper controls are maintained
• Participate in ad hoc requests as assigned

What you bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field
• 2+ years of accounting or audit experience from Big 4 or national accounting firms
• Knowledge of US GAAP and experience with SOX
• A collaborative, innovative and flexible approach, with strong relationship-building skills across the organization
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deliverables with changing priorities
• Microsoft Excel proficiency including pivot tables and HLOOKUP/VLOOKUP

Nice to have

• CPA in good standing
• Industry experience in crypto, financial services, fintech, broker-dealer, banking, or exchange
• Experience or knowledge of cryptocurrency
• Experience and knowledge of SQL
• Experience with high-volume transactions
• Experience using NetSuite
