Public Affairs Engineer

At Dapper, you'll build the data infrastructure of public and institutional affairs for emerging markets. You work with regulations in their entirety: bills, government actors, decrees, consultations, committee minutes, real-time plenary session transcripts, votes. You turn raw material into something a public affairs team or government can act on by understanding problems deeply, building products fast, and thinking about future research.

What you'll do

• Turn domain knowledge into product. You formalize how bills move through congress in different LATAM countries into ontologies, taxonomies, scoring models, and agents that the platform understands.
• Build directly with clients. Public affairs, legal, and government relations teams bring you problems without existing features. You prototype answers in days, validate them quickly, and iterate based on real feedback.
• Publish research. You make Dapper the reference on LATAM regulatory data through analyses, notes, and papers that serve both as product input and credibility signals.

What you bring

• A PhD in a quantitative or social science field: mathematics, physics, economics, political science, computer science, statistics, or applied math. You have proven you can define a hard question and answer it without supervision.
• 1-2 years of experience after your PhD in industry, government, or a non-academic role. You have made the transition from research-only to building product.
• Genuine power-user fluency with AI tools like Claude or Cursor, used daily not just for autocomplete but to compress the distance between idea and working artifact. You can build agents, not just prompt them.
• Real fluency in at least one language or framework, Python preferred. You can build the thing yourself instead of specifying it for someone else.
• Exceptional written and spoken communication in Spanish and English. You can write for clients and engineers with equal clarity.

• Familiarity with LATAM regulatory or legislative processes
• Exposure to public affairs or government relations work
• Comfort presenting to clients
