Newton School of Technology is seeking an industry professional to serve as both a Software Development Engineer and Associate Instructor in applied cryptography. You bring 1-3 years of hands-on experience in blockchain development, cryptocurrency, Web3, or applied cryptography, and you'll translate that expertise into practical learning experiences for undergraduate students. You'll guide learners from foundational cryptography through blockchain development and secure decentralized applications, combining real-world technical work with mentorship and instruction.
What you'll do
- Develop, test, and deploy smart contracts using Solidity and relevant blockchain development frameworks
- Teach cryptographic fundamentals, including hashing, digital signatures, public-key cryptography, RSA, and Diffie-Hellman
- Explain blockchain architecture, transactions, Merkle trees, consensus mechanisms, and how distributed systems establish trust and data integrity
- Demonstrate practical applications of blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, decentralized applications (dApps), and Web3 technologies
- Guide students in implementing cryptographic workflows and building simplified blockchain systems using Python
- Mentor students in building hands-on projects, including smart contracts, decentralized applications, and prototypes addressing real-world trust and security problems
- Demonstrate smart contract testing, debugging, common vulnerabilities, and secure development practices
- Support students in developing, deploying, testing, and presenting end-to-end technical projects
- Collaborate with academic and technical teams to design practical labs, assignments, assessments, and project-based learning experiences
- Stay updated on emerging developments in blockchain, cryptocurrency, Web3, applied cryptography, and smart contract security
What you bring
