Senior Backend Engineer —Payment(PH)

You will architect, develop, and optimize the core cross-border payment system, leading technical solutions across acquiring, clearing, settlement, and risk control. Coins is fully regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and holds both Virtual Currency and Electronic Money Issuer licenses, serving over 18 million users.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and optimize the core cross-border payment system, leading the implementation of technical solutions across the full payment link including acquiring, clearing, settlement, and risk control
• Understand fund loss risks deeply and design anti-fund loss solutions such as reconciliation systems, error handling, and fund audits to avoid potential capital risks
• Integrate with international payment channels such as credit cards and local payment methods, handling complex cross-border payment scenarios including compliance, exchange rates, and settlement
• Continuously optimize system performance and solve core technical challenges including high concurrency, distributed transactions, and data consistency
• Collaborate with risk control, finance, product, and other teams to improve payment system stability and security

What you bring

• Proficiency in cross-border payment core logic and architecture, with at least one experience leading a full-link payment system as the lead developer and architect
• A clear understanding of anti-fund loss concepts and practical experience handling fund loss cases or designing corresponding solutions
• At least 5 years of Java development experience and 2 years of architect experience
• At least 2 years of experience developing and maintaining payment systems
• Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of ownership and initiative

Nice to have

• Experience integrating with international payment channels
