Senior FPGA Engineer

As a Senior FPGA Engineer at DRW, you will build FPGA applications for one of our trading teams based in Chicago, NYC, London, or Amsterdam. You'll participate in the full development lifecycle of low latency, high throughput FPGA designs, working with strong software and hardware interaction expertise.

What you'll do

• Architect and implement new FPGA applications from the ground up, including synthesis, place and route, static timing analysis, and documentation
• Research and evaluate cutting-edge FPGA hardware and technologies
• Propose creative solutions to overcome FPGA and hardware limitations
• Liaise directly with software, trading and other design teams
• Conduct lab debugging and characterization of new hardware
• Provide production support and live debugging as needed
• Research new techniques, tools and architectures

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer or Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in the field (a Master's degree or higher counts toward this requirement)
• Solid hardware engineering experience, especially with FPGA
• Ability to lead an FPGA-based project independently from system requirements to production
• Strong capacity to quickly evaluate FPGA project feasibility based on hardware limitations
• Strong RTL logic design skills in Verilog with 2+ years of hands-on experience
• Experience with the full FPGA design flow including synthesis, place and route, and static timing analysis
• Experience designing system-on-chip (SOC) architectures, memory and processor subsystems, networking, and peripheral interconnect
• Knowledge of the TCP/IP stack
• Strong working knowledge of either Xilinx or Altera FPGA design flow
• Excellent research and data gathering skills

Nice to have

• Experience with functional verification using high-level methodologies such as SystemVerilog
