Senior Lead Software Engineer - Java, Blockchain

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer in Java and blockchain at JPMorganChase, you join the Global Technology team designing and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Depending on the team you join, you could develop mobile banking features, drive innovation in payment platforms, support cloud platform integration, or lead the development and integration of blockchain solutions on public chains such as Ethereum while leveraging AWS cloud services.

What you'll do

• Design and develop scalable and resilient systems using Java or Python, contributing to continual, iterative improvements for product teams
• Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting while maintaining production code quality and algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Produce and contribute to architecture and design artifacts for applications, ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to drive continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
• Design and implement blockchain-based solutions, including smart contracts and decentralized applications on public chains such as Ethereum
• Utilize AWS cloud services to architect, deploy, and manage scalable applications
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, including AI-assisted code review and refactoring, test strategy acceleration, and incident support, while establishing consistent validation standards for secure coding, peer review, and automated testing
• Apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle toolchain tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation

What you bring

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience coding in Java or Python
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile
• Experience with blockchain technologies, including public chains such as Ethereum
• Experience with AWS cloud services
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools such as for coding, code review, test acceleration, and troubleshooting, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
