Senior Linux Engineer

As a Senior Linux Engineer at DRW, you join the Linux Engineering Team responsible for providing highly performant, scalable, and stable infrastructure that enables trading desks, developers, and internal customers to run their applications as efficiently and deterministically as possible. You engage directly with users to understand their needs, take ownership of issues and projects, and champion automation, consistency, scalability, and simple design.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with a global Linux Engineering team to coordinate work, engineering projects, changes, and on-call schedules
• Serve as a liaison between the Linux Engineering team and various trading desks and teams
• Configure, deploy and maintain DRW's Linux environments in a declarative and repeatable manner
• Actively monitor the health of the entire Linux server environment and perform day-to-day troubleshooting
• Handle application packaging and maintenance of software repositories
• Automate repetitive system administration tasks
• Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software technologies or solutions

What you bring

• Experience working with configuration management tools, ideally Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Scripting and automation experience with one or more of Bash, Python, or another high-level programming language
• Extensive Linux support and engineering experience in a large (10,000+ server) high availability environment
• Strong knowledge of Red Hat-based and Debian-based platforms such as CentOS, Rocky, Alma, Oracle, and Ubuntu
• A solid understanding of protocols such as Kerberos, DNS, and DHCP, and applications like Kubernetes, VMware, and Openstack
• Previous experience tuning and debugging Linux systems for high performance, low latency trading applications
• A firm understanding of IP networking, routing, and multicast traffic

• Annual base salary of $200,000 to $250,000 depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant skill set
