Senior Onchain Investigator

As a Senior Onchain Investigator, you will lead advanced blockchain-based investigations into illicit activity and threat actor behavior within a digital financial ecosystem. You will use transaction tracing, open-source intelligence, and internal data to identify patterns, attribute actors, and support security and risk mitigation efforts. This role partners closely with product, engineering, and risk teams to strengthen controls and improve investigative response, while building scalable tools and methodologies that enhance the team's ability to detect, analyze, and act on emerging threats.

What you'll do

• Lead complex onchain investigations into threat actor activities impacting the company and its ecosystem
• Cluster and attribute illicit actors using blockchain analysis, open-source intelligence, and internal data, translating findings into actionable outcomes
• Create automated pipelines and dashboards for open-source intelligence and onchain analysis to scale investigative processes
• Conduct post-incident reviews to assess security gaps and propose improvements
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and risk teams to integrate threat mitigation into product lifecycles
• Develop and teach new investigative methodologies to the team and deliver briefings to executives regarding risks and actions

What you bring

• 5+ years of investigative experience, with 3+ years specifically in onchain illicit activity or cryptocurrency abuse
• In-depth understanding of blockchain systems and transaction tracing across various platforms
• Proficiency in Python or Go and SQL for data analysis and scripting
• A track record of developing investigation methods and automation tools adopted by peers
• Ability to communicate complex analysis clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executives
• Experience with open-source intelligence (OSINT) research across diverse topics
• Responsible use of generative AI to enhance workflow efficiency and output quality
