52 salaries · our own dataMost security roles in crypto pay between $139k and $273k, with a median of $213k.
As a Senior Risk Strategist for Market Manipulation at Binance, you will build and refine detection and control strategies against market abuse across spot and derivatives markets. You'll translate trading microstructure knowledge into surveillance logic, work closely with data scientists to operationalize detection models, and partner with Compliance and Market Surveillance on regulatory frameworks.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain risk strategies detecting manipulative and abusive trading behaviors across spot, perpetual futures, options, and other trading products
- Conduct in-depth investigations into suspected manipulation rings, analyzing order flow, self-match and crossing patterns, order book microstructure anomalies, and cross-account linkage
- Build behavioral profiles for emerging manipulation typologies in low-liquidity instruments, leveraged products, and leveraged liquidation cascades
- Quantify risk impact such as market distortion, potential losses, and exposure concentration to support strategy prioritization and management reporting
- Partner with trading product, compliance, and other related teams on surveillance rule and control measure design
What you bring
- Hands-on derivatives trading experience with a solid understanding of futures, perpetual contracts, and options mechanics including leverage, margining, liquidation mechanisms, insurance fund mechanisms, and ADL (Auto-Deleveraging) settings
- Trading risk management experience focused on market manipulation detection and prevention of abusive schemes such as spoofing, layering, wash trading, front-running, and insider or dealer misappropriation
- Strong data analysis skills: SQL required; Python preferred; able to independently design and validate detection logic against order-level and trade-level datasets
- Ability to reason from the attacker's perspective: how manipulators construct positions, disguise intent, and exploit product rules
- Experience collaborating across risk, compliance, product, or legal functions
Nice to have
- Work experience at a crypto exchange, brokerage, or trading venue in surveillance, trading risk, or market conduct roles
- Personal quantitative trading track record; candidates who actively trade derivatives are encouraged to share verifiable account performance (PnL statements) as evidence of practical market understanding
- Familiarity with traditional finance market abuse frameworks and surveillance vendors
- Familiarity with crypto on-chain fund-flow tracing
- Experience with graph analysis, entity-linking, and crypto on-chain fund-flow tracing for uncovering collusion networks across accounts
- Understanding of market anomaly signals such as VPIN and HHI
What we offer
- Competitive salary and company benefits
- Remote-first, work-from-home arrangement (may vary depending on the nature of the role and team)
