As a Senior Rust Blockchain Engineer at DMCG, you will join a team building the next-generation decentralised exchange with a fully on-chain order book. You'll take end-to-end ownership of critical components, designing and implementing the CLOB execution layer including the order book, matching engine, and blockchain client logic. This early-stage opportunity offers you the chance to influence critical technical decisions while delivering a trustless platform that matches the speed and efficiency of traditional trading engines while providing full transparency on-chain.
What you'll do
- Architect and implement the on-chain order book and matching engine in Rust
- Design and extend exchange-specific logic for order execution, risk checks, and account or state management
- Design and develop protocol-level components such as state transition logic, consensus, validator interaction, and transaction processing pipelines
- Implement integration with oracles, bridges, and external data providers, ensuring correctness and resilience in adversarial conditions
- Optimise for low-latency execution, concurrency, and gas efficiency
- Conduct benchmarking and stress testing to identify and address performance and throughput bottlenecks
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive suite of unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code reliability and functionality
What you bring
- 5+ years of systems programming experience, with 3+ years in Rust
- A proven track record building trading platforms, execution engines, or exchanges (DEX or centralized), or contributions to Rust-based L1 protocol projects such as Solana, Cosmos SDK, or Substrate
- A deep understanding of distributed computing principles including consensus algorithms, peer-to-peer networking, and high-performance data structures
- Deep knowledge of decentralised trading models such as on-chain order books, AMMs, and hybrid architectures
- The ability to design and implement complex, production-grade systems independently
Nice to have
- Experience with competitive programming or algorithmic problem solving
- Expertise in low-latency design, concurrency, and performance optimisation
About the role
You will work primarily with a remote team of experienced engineers. Occasional onsite opportunities during offsite sessions will support onboarding and enable more efficient collaboration. Remote applicants from Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Europe are welcome; US applicants will be considered if open to relocating to one of these preferred regions.
