Senior Rust Software Engineer

As a Senior Rust Software Engineer at Azkait, you will architect and build high-performance systems leveraging advanced Rust capabilities. You join a Mexican technology company that connects top IT talent with leading organizations across Latin America and the United States.

What you'll do

• Design and implement system architectures with expert-level Rust, focusing on memory safety and performance without garbage collection
• Build gRPC contracts using tonic and prost with bidirectional streaming, and REST APIs with reqwest
• Work with low-level Linux kernel concepts including syscalls, permissions, capabilities, and high-performance file systems like XFS
• Implement observability via tracing and inspection through journalctl
• Manage TCP/UDP socket manipulation and advanced async programming patterns with Tokio, Send/Sync traits, and spawn versus spawn_blocking decisions

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience in systems architecture with expert-level Rust proficiency
• Mastery of the Rust borrow checker, explicit lifetimes, Cow, and zero-copy APIs such as bytes::Bytes
• Deep understanding of memory structures without garbage collection, including Box, Arc, Rc, struct layout, and the trade-offs between monomorfization and dynamic dispatch (impl Trait versus dyn Trait)
• Solid experience with Linux kernel concepts, syscalls, permissions, capabilities, and socket manipulation
• Proficiency with gRPC, mTLS, and security libraries such as rustls, BLAKE3, and Zeroize
• Knowledge of Worker Pools and advanced async patterns with Tokio

Nice to have

• Experience with Rust bindings for GStreamer, particularly for multimedia processing pipelines (passthrough and transcoding)
• Hands-on experience building reproducible CI pipelines in GitLab using cargo build --locked, clippy, and .deb packaging
• Familiarity with Redb, Crossbeam, Socket2, and RTSP/RTP protocols
