Senior Software Engineer, Graphs

As a Senior Software Engineer within Investigations at Chainalysis, you'll lead a team of engineers, owning the technical direction and delivering best-in-class customer experiences. You'll design, build, and maintain customer-facing web features alongside the APIs and services backing them, partnering closely with product managers and designers to leverage your deep understanding of the underlying data platform.

What you'll do

• Lead the architecture, maintenance, and development of cloud-native data ingest and aggregation processes that handle gigabytes of data per day
• Drive the delivery of features across the product suite that detect market manipulation, fraud, behavioural patterning, and other illicit activities
• Own and scale high-performance services on AWS that handle thousands of requests per second
• Lead the team's modernisation efforts toward a streaming architecture, setting technical direction and best practices
• Own and drive the direction of the graphing platform, which is used across multiple products to visualize insights and data on and off the blockchains
• Debug and resolve production issues across multiple systems and services, guiding the team through complex technical challenges
• Mentor and grow engineers on the team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration

What you bring

• Proven experience leading the design and implementation of cloud-native services-based systems in a major cloud provider like AWS or GCP
• A strong track record of mentoring engineers, leading cross-team projects, and driving design and technology decisions at a senior or lead level
• The ability to align technical execution with product and design partners, with a strong bias to ship and iterate
• Deep experience with object-oriented programming languages, particularly Java and TypeScript
• A strong technical background with extensive experience working directly on complex backend and/or frontend systems and projects, including in leadership or lead engineer roles
• Ownership mentality, taking product ideas from inception through to production
• A solid understanding of both frontend and backend best practices and paradigms
• Experience integrating AI impactfully in customer-facing products or engineering infrastructure

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-friendly and driven systems
• Exposure to or interest in the cryptocurrency technology ecosystem
• Terraform and Kubernetes knowledge
