Senior Software Engineer-Korea

As a Senior Software Engineer on Remilia's Korea Engineering Team, you will be a hands-on engineer writing production code while playing a key role in expanding and strengthening the global engineering organization. You'll work closely with the US engineering team to design and implement core features of RemiliaNET, a community-driven social network and identity platform that combines virtual economy and gaming elements. RemiliaNET currently has over 10,000 registered community users and is in Closed Alpha, offering global chat, streaming, achievement systems, and in-house games.

What you'll do

• Participate in hiring, technical evaluation, and onboarding of new Korean engineering team members, while fostering technical growth and collaborative culture
• Design and implement core RemiliaNET features including user profiles, real-time chat, social graph, timelines, and content feeds
• Lead technical decision-making for your domain, analyze technical problems independently, and drive improvements in design and implementation quality
• Conduct code reviews, provide technical feedback, and improve the codebase to raise development standards and maintainability across the team
• Support the technical growth of fellow engineers through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and collaborative feedback
• Collaborate with the US Lead Architect and engineering team on architecture, technical decisions, and cross-team code reviews

What you bring

• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• Proven track record shipping and operating production systems in real products or services
• Deep hands-on expertise in backend systems and relational data modeling
• Ability to independently analyze and solve complex technical problems
• Commitment to hands-on development while taking ownership of technical decisions and code quality in your domain
• Ability to support other engineers' technical growth through code review, feedback, and mentoring
• Active participation in growing the Korean engineering team and developing collaborative culture and practices with teammates
• Ability to work autonomously in asynchronous communication with global teams

Nice to have

• Experience as a founding engineer or early team member building and shipping a product from 0 to 1 at a startup
• Experience building consumer social platforms, games, MMOs, or large-scale real-time systems
• Experience with social graphs, communities, guild systems, virtual economies, or marketplaces
• Systems programming experience with C/C++, Rust, or Zig
• Experience with Go, SQLite, TypeScript, or React
• Experience expanding engineering teams, technically onboarding new engineers, or mentoring junior engineers
• Experience collaborating with US headquarters or global engineering teams
• Fluency in English for communication
• Experience or interest in real-time systems using WebSockets or SSE
• Experience or interest in relational database data modeling, indexing, and query design
• Experience or interest in media pipelines including upload, processing, and delivery
• Experience or interest in in-game social systems, chat, community, or user-generated content product development
