
As a Senior Software Engineer (Firmware) at Plume, you'll join the Core Engineering team to deliver industry-leading firmware solutions for large-scale ISP platforms. You will solve challenging distributed systems problems across System-On-Chips, network and device drivers, kernels, operating systems, and SDKs like RDK-B and PrplOS, connecting embedded devices to scalable cloud-based SaaS platforms. This is a high-impact, customer-facing role where you work with customers who include some of the world's largest Internet Service Providers.
What you'll do
- Participate in all stages of the software design lifecycle working in multi-disciplinary teams spanning cloud, embedded devices, front-end web/mobile, data, and product
- Interface with customers on a regular basis to understand their problems and develop surgical solutions across any software layer
- Understand and work with Broadband industry standards such as TR-369, TR-069, TR-181, Wi-Fi Alliance EasyMesh, EasyConnect, and Wi-Fi 7
- Understand, excel in, and represent Plume to external organizations including RDK-B, BBF, PrplOS, and IETF
- Get involved in architectural discussions with internal and external stakeholders
- Design and develop high quality, maintainable code and perform peer code reviews
- Solve challenging scale, integration, and architectural problems
- Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot applications in emulated and/or physical lab and/or customer setups
What you bring
- 8+ years of industry experience writing production quality firmware code for Wi-Fi and/or networking devices
- High proficiency writing idiomatic C/C++ code
- Thorough understanding of L2/L3 and L4 Networking Layers and 802.11
- Experience developing on Wi-Fi access points, Linux OS, and open source router platforms such as OpenWRT, RDK, and PrplOS
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, and embedded systems
- Fundamental understanding of computer networking, operating systems, and databases
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
