Senior Software Engineer, Tokenization

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Tokenization team at Robinhood, you'll design and build the core systems that issue, custody, and settle tokenized equities on-chain while keeping them in sync with traditional brokerage and ledger systems. You lead technically complex projects end to end, making architectural decisions on a foundational initiative where correctness is non-negotiable-the systems you build move real customer assets continuously across multiple chains and jurisdictions.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate the backend services that mint, custody, and settle tokenized equities across leading blockchains, with correctness and auditability as hard requirements
• Own large, technically complex projects end to end: design, implementation, rollout, and operation in a 24/7 system
• Build the connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure (brokerage, ledgers, corporate actions) and on-chain systems, including smart contract integrations, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows
• Partner with product, compliance, legal, and platform teams to turn regulatory constraints into workable system design
• Raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on mentorship

What you bring

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including a track record of delivering large-scale distributed systems in production
• Expertise in backend development with Go, Python, or Java, and deep familiarity with cloud-native architecture (Kafka, Postgres, Kubernetes, or equivalents)
• Strong instincts for correctness-critical systems: idempotency, reconciliation, and careful reasoning about failure modes when money is at stake
• Demonstrated ownership of ambiguous, cross-functional projects, with the judgment to make tradeoffs and drive alignment
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction beyond your own projects
• Working knowledge of blockchain fundamentals (EVM, smart contracts, wallets, on-chain settlement) or a strong appetite to go deep quickly

• Base pay range: $196,000-$230,000 USD (Menlo Park, New York, Bellevue, Washington DC); $172,000-$202,000 USD (Denver, Westlake, Chicago); $153,000-$179,000 USD (Lake Mary, Clearwater, Gainesville)

This role is based in Menlo Park, Toronto, or New York City, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
