Senior Software Engineer, Unified Platform - Trade Management, Trade & Order Processing, Platform Services

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Unified Platform team at DRW, you build systems that consolidate data and technologies into a comprehensive solution, accelerating time to market across trading strategies and business areas. You work on critical capabilities that extend beyond a single strategy, from processing third-party trade and order feeds in real time to managing DRW's proprietary investment book of record with latency-sensitive ingestion and analytics.

What you'll do

• Build systems with a constant focus on testing, reliability, scalability, and maintainability
• Design, model, and program in a variety of languages and technologies
• Work on both legacy code and green field development
• Drive projects to completion from conception through deployment
• Learn and promote new technologies with a focus on best practices
• Provide on-call support as needed
• Collaborate with other developers on shared tasks

What you bring

• Multiple years of server-side development experience
• A solid understanding of microservice architectures and the CAP theorem
• Knowledge of modern programming languages, particularly Java, Python, or Clojure
• Confident JVM knowledge

Nice to have

• A good understanding of functional paradigms and type theory
• Experience with Airflow or other Python-based workflow orchestration tools
• Proficiency in domain-driven design and domain modeling
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or git
• Working knowledge of SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate development while owning the outcome
• Exposure to agentic frameworks or MCP server development
• Knowledge of financial concepts, exchange trading, or physical energy trading
