Senior Software Engineer, Wallet

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Robinhood Wallet team, you'll build and own the backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that power wallet products enabling users to custody and manage digital assets. You work at the intersection of traditional finance and web3, collaborating closely with product managers, product designers, and security engineers to deliver highly reliable, high-performance systems for cryptocurrency trading and tokenized stocks worldwide. This role is based in Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you'll do

• Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services that power Robinhood Wallet.
• Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements that meet strict correctness and scalability standards.
• Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction.
• Collaborate closely with client teams, product managers, designers, and external vendors to deliver reliable technical solutions.
• Mentor other engineers and raise the technical standards of the team through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on leadership.

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures.
• Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals.
• Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across product, engineering, and design teams.
• Strong sense of personal accountability with a track record of delivering high-quality, end-to-end products and raising team-wide technical standards.

Nice to have

• Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain-related company.
• Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts.

• Base pay range of $196,000-$230,000 USD (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC), $172,000-$202,000 USD (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL), or $153,000-$179,000 USD (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL), plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.
