Senior Web Engineer

As a Senior Web Engineer at Polymarket, you own complex frontend features across the world's largest prediction market platform. You build and launch web surfaces end-to-end, from scoping and implementation through production support and monitoring. This is a high-ownership role at the intersection of frontend product development, backend systems, performance, and reliability, where you'll ship complicated React/Next.js features, debug production issues, and work across teams to raise the quality bar for our frontend systems.

What you'll do

• Own and ship complex features end-to-end across Polymarket's core product surfaces, making thoughtful tradeoffs between speed, quality, architecture, and long-term maintainability
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers to design APIs, reason through data flows, and build reliable user experiences on top of complex systems. Partner with QA, product, and design to clarify requirements, manage launches, and improve product quality
• Own reliability and incident response for your domain by monitoring dashboards, alerts, and user reports to identify and respond to issues quickly, working with backend and infrastructure teams to isolate root causes and ship mitigations
• Build and improve the logs, metrics, alerts, dashboards, and error reporting that give the team visibility into how frontend systems are performing
• Identify meaningful technical debt, propose pragmatic refactors, and contribute to system design discussions that evolve frontend architecture as the product scales. Lead by example through strong code reviews, clear communication, and high-quality execution
• Connect your technical work to measurable results in performance, reliability, product quality, and conversion, and help break down ambiguous product requirements into shippable engineering work

What you bring

• 5+ years of frontend web engineering experience with experience in crypto, Web3, or adjacent financial infrastructure
• Strong hands-on experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern frontend development
• Strong frontend system design instincts across state management, data fetching, caching, performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Experience owning complex features from scoping through launch
• Strong debugging skills and experience responding to production issues
• Comfort working with backend engineers on APIs, data contracts, failure modes, and system behavior
• High agency: you notice problems, propose solutions, and drive work to completion
• Product-minded: you care about user experience, not just implementation
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
• Clear communication during planning, launches, bugs, and incidents

Nice to have

• Frontend performance specialization
• Experience with high-traffic, real-time, marketplace, trading, or financial products
• Experience building for WebViews or shared web/mobile surfaces
• Experience improving frontend observability, alerting, or reliability practices
• Strong practical use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity

• Base salary of $230,000 to $330,000 annually, plus equity
