Senior/Staff Smart Contract Engineer

As a Senior or Staff Smart Contract Engineer at Symbiotic, you'll design and build the core financial infrastructure that powers on-chain collateral markets. You'll work across existing production smart contracts and architect new financial products from scratch, scaling both the protocol layer and the products built on top of it.

What you'll do

• Design, write, optimize, and audit smart contracts in Solidity with a focus on performance, clarity, and security
• Build DeFi primitives from scratch including vaults, lending mechanics, staking, and protocol-level components
• Develop adapters, connectors, and plugins for the Liquid Lane product across varying levels of complexity
• Contribute to the design and buildout of greenfield financial products
• Conduct and support security audits, addressing vulnerabilities and hardening contracts against common attack vectors
• When needed, build beyond the contract layer, leveraging AI as a multiplier: simple frontends, indexers, internal tooling, to move work end to end

What you bring

• Expert-level Solidity skills with deep knowledge of EVM internals: execution flow, memory and storage models, gas mechanics, and precompiles
• Strong grasp of DeFi protocols and primitives, understanding how lending protocols, DEXes, and stablecoins work and where they commonly break
• A strong security mindset: familiarity with common attack vectors, contract optimization, and the audit process
• Comfort working across the full stack when the task demands it, becoming a fullstack developer where needed
• Solid computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and low-level reasoning about how code executes

Nice to have

• Deep specialist knowledge in one protocol domain, demonstrating genuine expertise and depth
• Experience in compiler development
• Experience with Rust, Go, or C/C++
• Practical coding experience in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Exposure to Yul, Vyper, or Huff
