Site Reliability Engineer

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Jump Trading, you'll work on the Trading Infrastructure team, a global organization that architects, builds, and maintains world-class infrastructure. You'll operate in a hybrid Systems Engineer and Software Developer capacity on Jump's internal systems that manage the global infrastructure and colocation footprint, working closely with multiple teams spread around the globe to take the infrastructure to the next level.

What you'll do

• Work in a hybrid Systems Engineer and Software Developer capacity on Jump's internal systems that manage the global infrastructure and colocation footprint
• Architect, build, and maintain streaming monitoring tooling, high-performance real-time packet and flow analysis systems, configuration management, and automation frameworks
• Take an ops-first approach, focusing on improving quality of the platforms for the wider team and identifying improvements and opportunities to make operations more efficient
• Identify opportunities to make services more efficient and resilient by designing alerting and observability around team and business requirements
• Conduct deep-dive debugging sessions on low-level performance issues in complex software stacks

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience with Python and Go
• Strong experience with Linux
• Knowledge of streaming systems architecture and design
• Experience with message and streaming queues such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ
• Working knowledge of Rust and C/C++
• Experience with big data and columnar style data stores such as Bigtable, Clickhouse, or Cassandra, and time series databases
• Experience working with version control and CI/CD systems
• Experience with app deployment management and lifecycle including CI/CD, Kubernetes, and containers
• Proven knowledge of working on infrastructure challenges in a reliability capacity
• Strategic thinking skills and maturity in tackling complex problems involving people, technology, and processes
• Reliable and predictable availability

Nice to have

• Prior exposure to Arista or Cisco hardware
• Routing protocol knowledge
• Prior network design knowledge
