Site Reliability Engineer | Weekend Warrior

As a Site Reliability Engineer (Weekend Warrior) in Jump Trading's Central Ops and Reliability Engineering (CORE) team, you'll manage our real-time production trading environment. You'll develop deep technical and operational expertise across our trading platform, proactively monitor and troubleshoot systems, deploy changes while minimizing operational risk, and implement tools and processes that drive continuous improvement. This role operates on a 4-day workweek with one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) as part of your schedule, working a follow-the-sun model globally alongside colleagues in APAC and US time zones.

What you'll do

• Own the production environment, driving performance, reliability, and operability through continuous improvement
• Proactively monitor and troubleshoot large-scale trading systems and exchange connectivity
• Build and maintain the site reliability toolkit for the production trading system, including configuration management, process management, deployment, monitoring, data collection, and analysis
• Leverage firm-wide metrics to improve scalability and system performance
• Partner with traders, Risk Management, and Operational Trading Support teams to communicate technology changes, coordinate deployments, and manage incidents
• Collaborate across the technology organization to analyse and troubleshoot complex system problems
• Work with the Clearing team to reconcile trades and position breaks
• Assess and manage operational risk when deploying changes to production
• Define and document processes and procedures
• Provide mentorship and cross-training to other technical operations engineers

What you bring

• A degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• At least 5+ years of relevant experience in IT operations (DevOps, SRE, Linux Systems Engineering, or Network Engineering)
• At least 3+ years of experience with Python and shell scripting
• A strong understanding of the Linux operating system, including network and system configuration, kernel internals, scheduling, and performance tuning
• A strong understanding of networking concepts such as routing, multicast, LLDP, VLANs, and Ethernet
• A rigorous, detail-oriented approach to operations
• A deep sense of ownership and ability to meet business priorities with urgency
• Reliable and predictable availability and the ability to handle shared operational and periodic on-call duties
