Software Defined Networking : Software Engineer III

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within Software Defined Networking, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team designing and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas in support of the firm's business objectives.

What you'll do

• Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions and break down technical problems
• Create secure and high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
• Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Write production-quality code in Go, Python, or C/C++ for networking infrastructure
• Design and architect core components of JPMC-VPC, including control plane (OVN), data plane (OVS/DPU), software gateways, load balancers, and IPAM/DNS systems

What you bring

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience (or advanced applied experience depending on region)
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

Nice to have

• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
• Exposure to cloud technologies
• Experience with DPU/SmartNIC technologies such as NVIDIA BlueField, AMD Pensando, or Intel IPU
• Knowledge of eBPF, XDP, DPDK, or other high-performance networking frameworks
• Experience with CNI implementations such as Cilium, Calico, or Flannel and Kubernetes networking
• Understanding of BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, EVPN, or other advanced routing protocols
