Software Engineer, Backend (Rust) – Crypto Trading

As a Backend Software Engineer at Van Kaizen, you'll build high-performance infrastructure for a well-funded, early-stage crypto trading company. You join a small, highly technical team backed by $15M+ in funding, where you'll have significant technical ownership and work directly with experienced founders and senior engineers.

What you'll do

• Build high-performance risk, liquidation and trading systems
• Develop real-time, low-latency backend infrastructure that processes live market data
• Build REST and WebSocket APIs with millisecond-level response times
• Work with Rust, Tokio, asynchronous programming, distributed systems and blockchain
• Solve complex problems around concurrency, state management and high-throughput event streams

What you bring

• 2-4 years of backend or software engineering experience
• Strong production Rust experience
• Experience with Tokio and asynchronous programming
• A background in real-time, high-throughput or low-latency systems
• Experience with relational, time-series and/or key-value databases
• Fintech, crypto, trading, HFT or blockchain experience
• A genuine interest in financial markets and Web3
• Strong systems fundamentals and ideally meaningful Rust or C side projects or GitHub contributions
• U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship available)
