Software Engineer II

As a Software Engineer II on Ripple's Financial Core team, you'll build essential infrastructure that powers the global custodian network. You'll transform manual financial operations into automated, auditable systems that move money in real time across fiat rails and crypto custody. This role sits at the platform layer supporting Ripple's products, handling settlement automation and liquidity management across multiple accounts and banking partners.

What you'll do

• Develop and deploy backend services and internal tools that automate settlement, funding, and liquidity management workflows
• Work directly with Product Ops and Product to understand manual processes and build software that replaces or accelerates them
• Contribute across the stack: REST API handlers, database migrations, and React UI components
• Participate in on-call rotation and maintain production reliability for financial systems that move money in real time
• Write well-tested, reviewable code and contribute to build discussions with your team and cross-functional partners

What you bring

• 2-5 years of software engineering experience building and shipping production systems
• Backend experience in at least one language: Java, Go, Python, or TypeScript, with comfort in object-oriented development and production-grade codebases
• Ability to contribute across the stack (backend APIs and UI components)
• Solid grasp of relational databases, REST API development, and basic distributed systems concepts
• Ability to read, navigate, and add to existing codebases, not only new projects
• Clear communication skills with non-engineering partners such as operations, finance, and product teams
• Active use of AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, etc.) as a core part of writing, reviewing, and debugging code

Nice to have

• Experience with financial systems, payments, or operations automation workflows
• Familiarity with Spring Boot, Postgres, and React
• Experience crafting or deploying agentic systems: closed-loop automation that runs without a human in the critical path, such as approval workflows, reconciliation pipelines, or event-driven monitoring
