Software Engineer, Production Management

As a Software Engineer in Production Management at Galaxy, you build the internal tools, workflows, and automation that keep our production support operation running effectively. You join a team focused on reliability improvements, toil reduction, and incident response across our cryptocurrency business lines, spending most of your time on automation and tooling, with the rest supporting monitoring, incident response, and cross-team coordination.

What you'll do

  • Work on automation projects focused on reliability improvements, toil reduction, and incident response, building tools and scripts that make the team more effective
  • Build and maintain internal tooling in Python, including scripts, bots, and lightweight applications that support monitoring, alerting, and related workflows
  • Improve observability across systems by building dashboards, refining alerting thresholds, and surfacing signals that help the team stay ahead of issues
  • Automate operational tasks across Kubernetes/EKS environments, including deployments, health checks, alerting, and runbook automation
  • Integrate with internal platforms such as FireHydrant, DataDog, Jira, and Confluence to streamline incident workflows and reduce context-switching
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex applications written in Java and Python
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement fixes and enhancements that improve system stability and performance
  • Monitor system health and performance, identifying and resolving issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted operations
  • Triage and respond to production incidents across cryptocurrency business lines
  • Investigate issues using SQL and log analysis, escalating and coordinating with development teams as needed
  • Coordinate with global counterparts to ensure seamless follow-the-sun support, with some on-call expected
  • Document and maintain support procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
  • Embrace and champion the thoughtful adoption of AI to improve team performance and business outcomes
  • Leverage AI tools such as generative AI, automation platforms, and data copilots to improve productivity, decision-making, and output quality in your day-to-day work

What you bring

  • Proven software development experience with production-quality code that others depend on
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering or production support roles, preferably in finance, with direct exposure to trading system internals, post-trade processing, or real-time risk engines
  • Strong Python and Java skills with experience building internal tools or automation that other engineers use
  • Strong technical skills in SQL
  • Experience with incident response, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving in a production environment
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively

Nice to have

  • Background in backend or platform engineering
  • Experience working embedded in or alongside an SRE or infrastructure team
  • Experience working with cryptocurrency or electronic trading platforms
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or crypto with familiarity with trading, settlement, or risk systems
  • Experience collaborating with global counterparts across time zones
  • Exposure to AWS/EKS infrastructure
  • Experience with observability tooling such as Grafana or Prometheus
  • Familiarity with incident management platforms like FireHydrant
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
  • Experience with Databricks or similar data platforms
  • Relevant certifications in cloud infrastructure, software development, or IT support
