Staff Engineer, AI Platform

As a Staff Engineer for the AI Platform at Fireblocks, you own the internal AI platform that teams across the company rely on to build and run AI-powered tools securely and at scale. This is a hands-on Staff-level role where you architect and write production code, own the roadmap, and keep the platform reliable, secure, and easy to build on. You'll also help drive an AI mindset across the organization by spotting where AI creates real leverage, setting technical direction, and working like a product owner as much as an engineer to engage stakeholders and communicate strategy to the executive level.

What you'll do

• Architect and write production code for the internal AI platform that serves the entire organization
• Own the platform roadmap and keep it reliable, secure, and easy for teams to build on
• Identify opportunities where AI creates real leverage across the company and set technical direction
• Work with stakeholders across engineering, product, go-to-market, and operations to understand their needs and turn them into a clear roadmap
• Communicate technical strategy credibly to the executive level

What you bring

• Vast Staff-level engineering experience with a long track record building and running high-scale systems, remaining deeply hands-on with code
• Genuine command of how modern AI systems are built, including frontier-model APIs, multi-agent orchestration, RAG, and developer-facing surfaces such as CLIs and MCP
• An instinct for where AI creates leverage and when to apply it
• Product sense and the ability to work like a product owner as much as an engineer, finding stakeholders, shaping needs into a roadmap, and communicating clearly from whiteboard to executive level
• Experience building or running a gateway that routes inference across providers based on cost, latency, capability, and data sensitivity
• Comfort measuring and improving AI systems, including assessing whether changes helped, catching regressions, and keeping quality, cost, and safety in check despite unpredictable outputs
• A security-first design mindset that treats a high security bar as a first principle, including guardrails, least-privilege access, human-in-the-loop escalation, monitoring, and audit for autonomous systems
• A solid DevOps foundation with ownership of infrastructure across cloud, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and IaC, with a healthy security posture
• The ability to lead through ownership and partner closely with security, legal, and finance

Nice to have

• Background in a high-trust, regulated environment such as fintech, security, or custody where data sensitivity, auditability, and reliability are first-order concerns
• A feel for how large organizations work, navigating many stakeholders, competing priorities, and cross-team dependencies to drive platform adoption at scale
• Experience with digital assets, blockchain, or Web3
