Staff Software Engineer, Crypto Program

As a Staff Software Engineer in Visa's Crypto Program, you'll design and build software that shapes the future of payments at global scale. You'll work on distributed systems handling over 65,000 secure transactions per second, contributing to payment flows, business solutions, and new blockchain-based offerings that reach billions of people worldwide.

What you'll do

• Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa's internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability
• Collaborate across functions to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings
• Actively contribute to product quality improvements, valuable service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads
• Develop robust and scalable products for merchants, B2B, and business-to-government solutions
• Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later Technology
• Identify and contribute development and solution strategies that improve design and functionality across project features
• Apply standard processes using programming languages such as HTML, C++, and Java to write code fulfilling technical requirements
• Collaborate on piloting new technology capabilities and features that enhance the user experience across e-commerce products
• Mentor team members and support continued learning opportunities

What you bring

• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or at least 2 years with an Advanced Degree, or 0 years with a PhD, or 8+ years of relevant work experience
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java, Go, and C++
• Proven experience designing and developing backend applications for high-performance, distributed systems
• Solid understanding of blockchain technologies, DeFi protocols, consensus protocols, and security schemes
• Experience developing smart contracts for EVM-compatible blockchains, with strong knowledge of ERC standards and EIPs for building scalable dApps
• Experience with the Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) model
• Experience with test-driven development (TDD), unit testing, and performance testing
• Experience with CI/CD tools
• Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership abilities with effective written and verbal communication

Nice to have

• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 4 or more years with an Advanced Degree, or up to 3 years with a PhD
• Background in payments and financial services
• Experience learning new technologies such as Angular, React, Kubernetes, and Docker

• Estimated salary of $146,200 to $233,700 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments
